Everything to Succeed
This week will be our first ever Year 12 Graduation Assembly. What a year it has been! Our Year 12s have achieved success and are ready for the next stage of their journey. As a school it has been our aim to provide everything they need to succeed. This included individualised pathways to their futures beyond Bethel. Those individual pathways have led to various exciting times ahead. We have people moving into jobs as Electricians, Builders, Nurses, Education Assistants, Chefs, Dance teaching, Music teaching, Hairdressing, Plumbing and more. We have ATAR students going to university to study Criminology, Business, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Law, Teaching, Psychology, Commerce, Chiropractor and more.
Our year 12s received quality teaching, small class sizes, free after school tutoring, student support at anytime, access to career guidance through Mr Hotchkin, extensive pastoral care and prayer, encouragement in academic excellence, flexible learning arrangements, resources needed (apple MacBooks and/or iPads) and access to Vocational Certificates and S.I.D.E for some courses fully paid for by the school.
These Year 12s were the first in so many things. They were the first Year 7s in high school when the government changed the rules, first Year 11s, first Year 12s, first Senior Ball, first students driving to school, first Country week and first Year 12 Graduation. Being the first in these things can be a great honour but it can also be really hard. On top of these firsts they were also the first to do Year 12 in a global pandemic. So well done Year 12s and staff for surviving and thriving this year.
In a letter from one parent we received the following encouragement; “My son was given opportunities no other school had ever given him. He has attended camps, including the Canberra trip, YOH FEST trip and performance, Country Week, School Ball, extra time for exams/ tests as per his IEP, assistance and extension on assignments. This amazing team has worked tirelessly to ensure they have done everything humanly possible to ensure he made it successfully through to graduation. This Friday Mim’s dream is about to become a reality with him graduating successfully with his classmates. Classmates that I am sure will become lifelong friends.” This is what it is all about providing every opportunity a student needs to succeed.
So to our leaving Year 12s I have a few scriptures for them to focus on:
Colossians 3:2 “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” And
Proverbs 3:1 -6 “My son (daughter), do not forget my teaching. Keep my commands in your heart. They will help you live for many years. They will bring you peace and success. Don’t let love and truth ever leave you. Tie them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favour and a good name in the eyes of God and people. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways obey him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight.”
Parents may provide everything a child needs to succeed, schools may provide what a student needs to succeed, but as our children move into their adult life choosing the Lord in their lives is what will bring ultimate success.
Thank you for partnering with us in their journeys of school success.
Blessings,
Mrs Mim Butler
