Bethel Atmosphere No: 2 - Outrageously Forgiving

Well this week will be a great opportunity for me to practice the art of being ‘Outrageously Forgiving’, as a couple of Year 7 boys ‘Toss the Boss!' and throw me into the icy Princess Royal Harbour waters. In all seriousness, it will be a great event raising money for the Albany Hospital Children’s Ward.

Being outrageously forgiving is such as amazing trait to have. I even read something during the week that said, forgiving people have better health. Forgiveness is such as important part of our lives. Forgiveness lies at the very foundation of our walk as a Christian.

What ‘Outrageously Forgiving’ could look like at BCS:

Forgiving all offences
Forgiving another, even when it costs you
Continually forgiving
Loving each other
Giving others a second chance
A fresh start each day
Speaking well of each other
Choosing to think the best of others, even if they have upset you
Obedience to the Holy Spirit in forgiving others
Showing others grace and mercy
Overlooking an offence
Showing kindness, even to someone who isn’t always kind to you

In our school ‘Peacewise’ program, students are introduced to the 4 choices of forgiving. These are four great things we can teach our children to do which will help them to grow into forgiving people. See picture below.

Finally Colossians 3:13 reads, “Bear with each other and forgive one another, if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

Teach your children to forgive others, it will help in so many ways.

Blessings,

Mim Butler
