Psalm 25:1 reads “In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.” Proverbs 3:5-6 reads, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Trust is described as firm belief, truth, or ability of someone and something. In the above scriptures God is reminding us to place our trust in Him. This means we need to have a firm belief in who He is and in His words and direction to us. Trust is believing the truth of Jesus and that He is capable of all things.
It’s been an interesting couple of weeks in Albany. Fires, blackouts and crazy weather. Add to this peoples personal problems and it is clear to me that having a loving, strong and powerful God is the best and only thing to truly put your trust in.
We can show our children how to trust by setting an example for them. No matter what comes our way we can show them that to trust in the Lord with all our heart is truly the way to peace and success in our lives.
A few more scriptures on trust for us to think on:
2 Samuel 22:31-32 New Living Translation (NLT) “God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.”
Psalm 20:7 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”
Psalm 62:8 “Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”
Just a few scriptures to teach our children. Trust is medicine for anxiety. Trust brings peace and trust shows strength through the most harrowing of situations. Our children and us as well need to lean on and trust on the God of the universe to be our Lord and Saviour.
